Your first two nights are at the volunteer house in Kathmandu.
The volunteer house in Kathmandu is 5 km away from the city centre and has rooms with 4 to 6 people sharing on a single gender basis and space for up to 36 volunteers. The modern bathrooms with hot showers are shared with your roommates. There is a modern kitchen and dining room, a refrigerator where you can store food and beverages, a fully furnished living room, live-in staff on call 24/7, a garden with a comfortable, covered area for relaxing including a smoking area as well as 24/7 security. Other amenities available at the centre are a TV with SKY, DVD player and Wi-Fi. Unfortunately the internet connection might occasionally be slow and irregular. Laundry facilities are available at an additional fee.
Your accommodation in Pokhara will be at a local homestay, based upon your placement school in Pokhara. You will stay in shared single-gender rooms (2-4 people per room) with bathrooms shared with other volunteers, as well as with the host family. The family house is complete with living areas, dining areas and a balcony overlooking the green mountains. During your stay with your family, you will be a part of the family. It will give you a total immersion into the local culture.
Only cold water showers available. Bed linens are included, but towels are not. No air-conditioning, but there are fans. Laundry facilities are available for a fee.

Meet us upon landing
You will be met at the airport in Kathmandu and transferred to the volunteer house in Kathmandu, your onwards transfer to Pokhara on tuesday is included, if you are not taking the Cultural Week in Kathmandu. The airport transfer is available for arrivals on Sunday between 06:00 and midnight. Look for the 'The Green Lion Nepal' sign board at the airport outside the arrival gate. If you don’t see our clearly marked staff, DO NOT move from the meeting point. They will find you.

If you are arriving to Kathmandu by land, the meeting point is The Green Lion Nepal Program House (Dhapasi Height, Tokha 06) at 16:00 on Sunday.
If you are arriving to Pokhara by land, the meeting point is Birauta Ram Mandir at 16:00 on Sunday.

Transportation between Kathmandu and Pokhara is not included if you choose the Cultural Week
If your first program is in Pokhara, you do not need to pay extra for the transfer from Kathmandu to Pokhara on Tuesday in the first week.
Otherwise, a tourist bus between Kathmandu and Pokhara including a transfer to the bus station and pick up in Pokhara costs EUR 13 in each direction (this is paid locally.) If you choose to return to Kathmandu at the end of your final week, one night’s accommodation in Kathmandu on Friday is included, check out is on Saturday.
Otherwise your last night of accommodation is in Pokhara and check out is Saturday in Pokhara.
You will be provided with three meals a day on weekdays and two meals per day on weekends. The meals are Nepali food, consisting mainly of vegetarian dishes including rice and vegetables. You can expect to have a meat dish about once a week. You can also use the kitchen facilities to cook for yourself.
