Get your hands dirty and help the poorer communities in Cambodia with a construction development project.
The main construction site of this construction effort project is at a local school allocated to the poor, but also can take place on another 'site' in the area where development construction assistance is needed. While assisting the local community with their developments you will gain valuable experiences and cultural exchanges together with the Cambodian people.

At this project, you will get your hand dirty with construction assignments. Our main focus when constructing is working at Greenway School, our own school allocated to the poor. This school was built with the help of previous participants and local tradesman and today, over 300 children attend every day. Despite the previous efforts, the work here is far from done and we continue to construct pathways, toilets, walls, etc. Moreover, those with artistic talents can help decorate the walls by creating images and sketches of their home countries and cultures. We have the feeling that this will be a nice way of reflecting the hard and good work that has been done by our participants over the past six years.

Other construction efforts might be carried out in the local village (renovating and building houses and sanitation facilities) or working on construction projects at the local hospital - this very much depends on the needs of any particular time and so our participants will be using their construction skills where they are most needed!

What Makes a Good Volunteer?

Volunteers need to be flexible and keep an open mind concerning their placements as situations can arise beyond our control which could require you to be placed at a different project than the one you have initially chosen. We will of course always do our utmost to fulfill your initial wishes but do remember that where you are going is quite different from where you are coming and as such one should be prepared for things not always going according to plan.

Volunteering and intercultural travel share a common trait: the more you put into it, the more you get out of it. This program is designed for proactive individuals and groups that are prepared to adapt to the local environment and its current needs. Naturally, the scheduling and activities of our program are subject to change. Alterations in activities are mainly due to changes in local conditions, which we believe is part of what makes overseas programs the interesting adventure and incredible learning experience that they are.

How Long Should I Volunteer?

Our projects range from 1 week up to approx. 30 weeks. Projects have a specified minimum stay, then it’s up to you how long you can commit. In our experience the longer you stay the more you will gain, as your understanding of the project broadens and you take on more responsibilities. Every volunteer will be given a certificate of appreciation at the end of their stay as a symbol of volunteering stay.
