Imagine waking up to the sound of a sea breeze moving through coconut palms right outside your room… practicing yoga at sunrise on our open jungle yoga shala deck… hearing nothing but the sounds of local wildlife and singing birds and catching your first waves on the perfect tropical bay of Hiriketiya. Here at The Salty Pelican is a place to be happy... A place to feel like your own... a place to feel like home... it’s an entire experience consisting of everything we love: surf, yoga, sun, sea, salt, adventures, great people and good vibes. So kick-up your feet at our poolside cafe... grab a cold sangria and really enjoy this amazing place. Life is just that easy at The Salty Pelican.... Experience revitalising & dynamic yoga sequences in the morning followed by afternoon meditation sessions and gentle afternoon classes of restorative Yin yoga.. A team of certified instructors who follow a very unique approach in teaching will make sure that you learn the proper techniques, ride the waves and have loads of fun whilst perfecting it. We try to balance a lively atmosphere at The Salty Pelican with comfort and a good night's sleep....

Yoga
We offer up to 17 yoga classes per week, blending Hatha Flow, Yin, and Functional Movement sessions to create variety and balance in your practice. Our 8-day Balance & Restore Package is designed for all levels, enhancing flexibility, strength, and mindfulness in our jungle-surrounded yoga shala. Please note, yoga is not scheduled on Mondays or Thursday afternoons, allowing time for alternative experiences like an elephant safari tour or a traditional Sri Lankan cooking class.
Morning Hatha Flow Yoga
Begin your day with invigorating Morning Hatha Flow Yoga in our jungle-immersed yoga shala. Led by our expert instructors, these sessions will improve your strength, flexibility, and mental focus. All levels are welcome and no prior experience is required.
Functional Movement Yoga
Our Functional Movement Yoga classes, scheduled throughout the week, are designed to enhance mobility, strength, and injury prevention. These dynamic sessions incorporate mobility drills, breathwork, and strength-based movements to complement both yoga and surf training. Whether you're looking to improve balance, prevent injuries, or refine body awareness, these classes provide a well-rounded approach to movement and flexibility.
Afternoon Yin Yoga
Experience soothing outdoor Afternoon Yin Yoga. We'll guide you through deep, floor-level postures held for 2-5 minutes, enhancing flexibility and healing energy. All levels are welcome and no prior experience is required.
Sunday Arrivals
If your arrival day falls on a Sunday, your first yoga class is scheduled on that afternoon between the starting time between 15:00 - 17:00 usually. If you miss this class, your first yoga class will commence on Tuesday morning, as there is no yoga classes scheduled all day on Monday.

Wellness & SPA
Upon arrival, you can schedule soothing treatments and massages in our peaceful garden spa. Enjoy two 50-minute massages and two body treatments included in your package. These massages & treatments will help you unwind and find balance after a day of surfing and exploration. You'll find these massages & treatments to be pure heaven!

Our 7-night packages include either a comfy custom-designed bunk bed with personal amenities like USB charging points, reading light, shelf and lockable space or private superior double room. You can choose either Premium shared room (8-beds), Female Only Premium shared room (8-beds), or Superior ensuite double room** All rooms have ensuite bathrooms.

Colombo International Airport Transfers
We can organise private airport transfers (to be paid locally) that takes about 3 hours to reach The Salty Pelican. When you choose to arrive by bus to Hiriketiya, you can catch a bus from Katunayake bus stop (airport) to Colombo Fort station. From here, Super Luxury (Express) Coach are about triple the price of a normal local bus but are air-conditioned and will allow your large suitcase on. It is also the only bus allowed on the Expressways. Book COLOMBO - KATARAGAMA bus route and disembark at DIKWELLA stop.

- Surf Lessons
After breakfast, you have the option to head out to the beach for our morning surf lesson. Our surf school is run by a team of certified instructors who follow a very unique approach in teaching. They will make sure that you learn the proper surf techniques and have loads of fun whilst participating in each lesson. The unique geography of our location means we not only have rideable waves almost every day of the year but that we can almost always find a wave to suit everyone. **This package does not include surf lessons in the package price, but you have unlimited surfboard rental from our premium range included in your package.
- National Park Safari Tours
Leopards, elephants, birdlife in abundance - Sri Lanka is a wildlife lover's paradise and is one of the best places in Asia for seeing wildlife. Both Yala and Udawalawe have stunning landscapes, so whichever park you decide to visit for your safari, you will find the landscapes very enjoyable and unique. Udawalawe is in our opinion the best safari in Sri Lanka because it provides a truly gratifying experience. You can get very close to animals, particularly the elephants, and you're never really bothered by other jeeps and tourists. Whilst your chances of spotting leopards at Udawalawe are less likely than at Yala, there is nonetheless a healthy leopard population in Udawalawe that sightings do happen. You're also almost guaranteed to spot Sri Lankan elephants as well as red spotted deers, wild water buffalo, sloth bears, crocodiles, monkeys and many different species of birds. Best mornings to join this tours is on both on Monday and Friday mornings, as we have no yoga or meditation scheduled on those mornings. Other mornings can also be pre booked where possible. This activity is an optional extra and not included in the package price but you should definitely make time to to visit one.
