Time to pack your bag and head to your next destination: Kanchanaburi. Make your own way from the hostel to Makkasan Station (https://goo.gl/maps/3p6GjQBQJ6dvdaCh9) and look for the 12Go counter. From there, hop on a join-in minivan that will take you to Kanchanaburi Town (about a 3.5h drive).
Set astride the calming River Kwae, Kanchanaburi is best known for the "Death Railway" built by Allied prisoners of war and Asian conscripted laborers under Japanese command during the Second World War. Wade deeper into this enormous province to hit waterfalls, caves, ruins, temples, lakes and jungle. For history and natural beauty, Kanchanaburi packs a punch.

Today, central Hua Hin is a multi-layered mess of oversized billboards, tailor shops and fast-food joints thrown besides a few temples, markets and historic buildings. A tangle of sleazy bars, ramshackle guesthouses and travel offices have filled the narrow lanes of what, 30 years ago, could have been preserved as an old town near the fishing pier.

Make your own way to Hua Hin Railway Station (https://goo.gl/maps/2cpDMFX1Fbz93juz6) and board the day train to your next destination: Chumphon. The journey will take about 4h, so sit comfortably and enjoy the countryside landscape by the window. Meet our representative on arrival at Pathiu Railway Station (don't miss it, it's a few kilometres before Chumphon Railway Station!) and transfer to your beach resort. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. But hey, don't waste any time and head straight to Thungwualen Beach, one of the most scenic beaches in the Kingdom!

The tiny Island of Koh Tao ("Turtle Island"), 45 km north of Koh Phangan, is one of the top scuba diving destinations in Thailand. What's more, the island, which is the site of important breeding grounds for Hawksbill and Green turtles, is now a centre for environmentally friendly diving practices, including the reintroduction of hundreds of juvenile turtles to the island's ecosystem and efforts to preserve and grow coral reefs.
